HF Foundation seeks to improve the number of artisans and quality of skills for the B&C industry by coupling improved technical training, with non-technical skills required for the 21st Century. This is done in two interventions;
1. Facilitating training and certification of artisans
This was catalyzed through an industry driven stakeholders workshop that developed occupational standards to be piloted by the Ministry of Education. HF Foundation then introduced and rolled out industry driven CBET programmes in different trade areas such as: masonry, painting, bricklaying, steel fixing, carpentry, fabrications and electrical wiring.
2. Strengthening industry-academia linkages
HF Foundation offers 3 month internship opportunities for TVET students with construction companies. The objectives of the Internship is to become familiar with the Building and Construction Industry, understand and practice technical skills, improve attitude towards work.
